Description

Students spent the first 2 days of their groupwork reading the myths in their respective packet, discussing them with their fellow group members, and then demonstrating comprehension of the text through completion of worksheets. Students had filled out the same worksheet during our initial exploration of the myths in the whole-class format. This attempt to scaffold the work they were asked to do more autonomously was helpful.

By the end of these 2 days, group members had to show that they had met a benchmark of reading comprehension and analysis. Each group member had to complete a set of worksheets for each myth. Groups worked on this collaboratively, and could share information... but had to ultimately demonstrate individual completion. However, in any one group member did not have this completed, the group could not move on to the next phase of selecting their creative product.
