Students were to become an ‘expert’ on the chapters and were responsible for participating in a Fishbowl Discussion about at least one of those chapters to inform their peers about the significant events and meanings found in them.
In preparing for their role in the fishbowl discussion, students completed the following 4 LITERARY ACTIVITIES for their assigned chapter:
I: ILLUMINATE THE TEXT
II: DIRECT THE DISCUSSION
IV: MAKE CONNECTIONS
Their main role as a member of the chapter discussion is be to teach everyone else in the room about the chapter so that they can walk away from the discussion with a full understanding of the chapter. Students recieved participation/activity credit for being an engaged member of their assigned discussion, as well as for being an engaged listener and taking notes.
